Training Services
APEX provides a professional training and development program for the exploration and mining industry. The courses we offer are tailored to meet the specific needs of our clients, with a focus on practical applications and real-world scenarios. Below are some of the key courses we offer:
Sampling
We cover the fundamentals of sampling theory, focusing primarily on its practical application and impact on data quality. Using client data, we highlight relevant sampling situations tailored to their needs. For example, we avoid using drilling samples when focusing on processing plants. While some aspects of this course may seem technical, we present them in an accessible way for all participants, not just geologists. It is crucial for managers to fully understand the importance of proper sampling practices, as poor practices can negatively impact financial results. Field professionals play a vital role in collecting accurate data, so we actively involve them in this process.
Quality Control (QC) and Quality Assurance (QA)
QC and QA are essential for establishing and maintaining overall performance quality in mining and mineral projects, whether in asset modeling, metallurgical inspections, exploration programs, plant analysis, or grade control. These terms often generate confusion and are simplistically interpreted as «»setting standards and performing checks.»» Problems arise as the project progresses through the value chain, with financial considerations becoming more important in risk evaluation. Our APEX QC/QA course is designed for practical implementation. We don’t just provide theory and send participants home with a textbook; we work with your own data and address the social issues that often hinder the application of theory in practice. It’s crucial for team leaders and middle managers to participate in this course, as it helps them uncover opportunities for optimization and cost reduction, which should be budgeted, planned, and executed properly.
Geology in Estimations and Decision-Making
At APEX, we strongly advocate for understanding the geology behind mineral deposits, as this builds confidence in estimations and ultimately in decision-making. Excluding geology from the evaluation process or treating it as mere data often leads to exceptionally poor estimations, inadequate models, and faulty decisions based on those models. This course provides participants with a clear structure for reintegrating geology into the risk evaluation process. We focus on gathering legitimate data through core logging and geological mapping, and how to interpret these data to derive actionable insights for modeling purposes. The success of this course depends on management’s understanding and commitment to reintegrating geology as a fundamental part of the project risk evaluation process.
